The source text is a typical text of psychology, and the translation of it is of significance to the author and translator, and the Chinese version is expected to be of help to the domestic researchers in this field. The translation report introduces some basic information about the source text and the motivations of the translator’s, and briefly analyzes the linguistic features of the source text. Then it introduces the theory of“Functional Equivalence”and analyzes in detail how the translator applies the theory to her translation at the lexical, syntactic and discourse levels respectively. The translation process is then described.
