This report uses the translation of A Mercy’s chapters （Chapter 7, Chapter 8 and Chapter 9） as the source text. A Mercy is a long novel published in 2008, written by American black authoress Toni Morrison. Three students translate the novel together; I translate Chapter Seven, Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine, and write this translation project report accordingly. The main line of this novel is the story of finding blacksmith, other stories complement the main line to complete the whole line. Moreover, the characteristic and translation difficulty of this novel is multi-angle narration. For the Chapter Seven, Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine, the author uses first person narration in the Chapter Seven and Chapter Nine, the third person in the Chapter Nine. The three chapters (Chapter Seven, Chapter Eight and Chapter Nine) are at the very core of this novel, especially the ending of the Chapter Nine which is the climax has come to the purpose of writing. In the three chapters, the author narrate some things happened in the travel which Florens find blacksmith and Sorrow’s miserable life. There are four parts in this report. Part One is translation project description, including the background, target and significance. Toni Morrison is the first black lady who won the Noble Prize in Literature. She has deep influence on the American literature even the world literature. So translating her ninth novel which was published in 2008 is the big challenge for the translator, especially there is no Chinese version in China.
