万方数据 万方数据 Abstract Jin ping mei is the first realistic chapter novel created by scholars independently in the history of Chinese literature, with its sharp insight into the social reality, accurately portrays the whore group survival in late Ming Dynasty. This paper focused on the study of the image of prostitutes and their culture, in the perspective of jin ping mei, insight into the world of prostitutes in the history. This article will mainly study on the prostitutes in jin ping mei from four aspects. The first chapter will comb the ancient culture and literature of brothel, defining their connotation, analyzing its development,evolution and influence. The second chapter will investigate the background of its creation, to study the social which was indulged in lust and the culture of brothels in Ming Dynasty. The third chapter will overview of the whores’ description in jin ping mei. In order to evaluate and summarize it fairly, and excavates its cultural background and the sense of ethics which are behind the appearance, I will analyse and explore their living condition, final destination, the relationship with businessmen, their sex which is not affected by moral codes constraint and skills deeply. The fourth chapter will study the relationship between prostitutes and popular literature and art in jin ping mei, combing the talent and skill whore needed for living, and combing the general situation of ditties.
