华 华 中 科 技 大 学 硕 士 学 位 论 文 IV IV 尽管本论文只对《红楼梦》中的六类模糊语进行了探讨，笔者希望本研究能使 我们更好地理解杨宪益夫妇以及霍克斯的翻译实践，给今后的研究者带来一定的启 示，以便开展更多有价值的研究。此外，笔者还希望翻译实践者能从中获取有用的 信息和指导，从而使自己的模糊语翻译实践更为有效。 本论文主要由五个部分组成。第一部分是引言，介绍了本研究的背景、意义以 及研究问题。第二部分是文献综述，简要回顾了模糊语的定义、分类、成因，以及 前人对模糊语和《红楼梦》所做的的翻译研究。第三部分介绍了本论文的研究方法 和语料库。第四部分对杨霍两译本中模糊语的翻译进行了对比分析，并对分析结果 进行了总结。结尾部分指出了本研究的不足之处，并对将来的研究提出了自己的建 议。 关键词：对比研究 翻译 模糊语 《红楼梦》 I I Abstract Fuzziness is an inherent characteristic of language. Fuzzy language, which leaves much space for readers imagination, is an ideal carrier for literary works. As a masterpiece of Chinese literature, Hong Lou Meng abounds with many fuzzy expressions, which pose a great challenge to translators. If the fuzzy beauty fails to transfer in translation, it will not only ruin the original artistic and aesthetic value, but also be a great loss to the original work and the target language readers. Therefore, proper translations of them are of great significance to spread Chinese culture and promote cultural exchange between China and the other parts of the world. The present study is a comparative study of the translation of fuzziness in the two English versions of Hong Lou Meng. Unlike most of the previous studies, all the findings of this study are obtained from the investigation of the corpus. After reading the novel, the author selects 130 examples which include typical fuzzy expressions, and classifies them into six large categories, namely, fuzziness in physical appearance, fuzziness in personality, fuzziness in scenes, fuzziness in religion, fuzziness in medicine and fuzziness in sex. And three research methods will be adopted, namely, corpus-driven approach, comparative study and induction. Altogether there are five chapters in this thesis. Part one is the introduction of the whole thesis, including the research background, significance of the study and research questions. Part two is literature review of the research on fuzziness.
