In germplasm evaluation studies of Pinellia ternate, the assaying methods of extractives and total alkaloid are established. The detection result indicated that extractives and total alkaloid of Pinellia tuber from Sichuan are generally higher than those from other provinces. That states the quality of Pinellia tuber produced in Si Chuan is better. It reflects the influence that trueborn medicine to the inner quality of Pinellia tuber. In Si Chuan, the producing area of SiChuan Ⅲ and SiChuan Ⅴ has better Pinellia tuber, SiChuan Ⅲ and SiChuan Ⅴ can as resources of the good cultivation areas. We search the fingerprint identification ways of 1H-NMR and HPLC preliminarily, their results are the same, can see the differences of different producing areas easily of the same kind of seed, illustrate Si Chuan has the steady quality, and use the HPLC fingerprint identification way to research the 4 different kinds of Pinellia ternate which are elected. We find the bamboo leaves style has less similarity to the 3 others. The results provides a scientific basis for the study Pinellia ternate germplasm resources for the comprehensive evaluation, the establishment of standards for quality and Pinellia ternate breeding research.
