Methods: The data of damaged drugs in the outpatient pharmacy of eastern hospital were collected. The types, reported loss, quantity, causes and other aspects of damaged drugs were statistically analyzed. Results: The average reported loss of monthly drug damage was 1325.88 yuan in 2016. Drug damage occurred in all aspects of the workflow, among which improper operation, machine crush and lax package of self-made preparations were the main causes. Conclusion: In order to reduce the drug loss, management for vulnerable drugs should be strengthened; dispensing machine should be timely repaired when it is out of order so as to reduce further damage.
