Abstract Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) system is a communication system providing continous and real-time services such as tracking, telemetry, command and data relay for low-earth-orbit spacecraft. The inter-satellite link (ISL) establishing is the precondition for TDRS system’s operation. Acquisition and Tracking (AT) technology is one of the key technologies for ISL establishing. This dissertation researches AT technology for 2nd generation CTDRSS (China Tracking and Date Relay Satellite System), and founds a simulation system. Firstly ， the structure of CTDRSS is analyzed. And the limitation and tracking precision demands of 2nd generation CTDRSS are also analyzed. The course and theory of CTDRSS’s ISL establishing are studied，and the structure of ISL AT system is given. It analyzes the environment of ISL and dissects the AT technology, founds a firm base for further research. The angle tracking system is specially studied, which is the most important part of AT system. Fitful system scheme is chosen for both TDRS and user’s satellite. Through further analysis on chosen angle tracking system, two angle tracking receiver schemes are fixed for TDRS and user’s satellite. Secondly, according to the structure and operation theoris, the simulation system is designed. The layer structure and relationships amoun models are analyzed. Modelings of simulation system’s components are givend. At last, TDRS system AT simulation system is established. Finally ， it analyzes the simulation results, discusses the parameters’ effection on system performance, and provides advices on deciding parameters’ values. The successful acquisition probability and acquisition time are analyzed. The achievements of research on ISL AT are not only used in TDRS systems, but also other wireless link between spacecrafts.
