Abstract In recent years, the international projects contracting market has become more and more competitive. The competition of international contracting market has turned to the competition among contractors in terms of the capabilities of project financing, operation, management, and others. To improve the financing capability of contractor is one important path to enhance its competitiveness and possibility to get contract. The export credit insurance is a special insurance with the insured subject-matter of commercial risks of importer or political risks of import country. As a non-profitable policy insurance business, the insurance deposit is provided by national treasury, to promote the export trade and secure foreign exchange safety. The export credit insurance has close connection to the export credit in terms of promoting export, pushing overseas investment, project contracting, and capital goods exporting. The export credit is a powerful measure to expand export, as a policy financial tool with special policy functions. As a risk management tool and financing bridge, the export credit insurance performs fundamental function for enterprises to utilize export credit. With the backdrop of realizing “Going out” strategy in our country, the functions of export credit insurance in terms of promoting export and enterprises’ “going-out” become more and more prominent. This paper firstly discusses the export credit insurance and export credit, based on the introduction, this paper analyzes the application of credit insurance in export credit. At last, this paper analyzes the existing problems in the application through one actual case, and puts forward the relevant suggestions. Through the analysis of the application of export credit insurance in project financing, the author wishes to provide some help for our enterprises to how to enhance international competitiveness and develop international market.
