He is regarded as the archetypal Impressionist in that his devotion to the ideals of the movement was unwavering throughout his long career 克劳德·莫奈(Claude Monet,1840年11月14日-1926年12月5日),法国画家,印象派代表人物和创始人之一。莫奈是法国最重要的画家之一,印象派的理论和实践大部份都有他的推广。莫奈擅长光与影的实验与表现技法。 Characteristic of Impressionism The most conspicuous characteristic of impressionism was an attempt to accurately and objectively record visual reality in terms of transient effects of light and color. 重外光 重瞬间 重视觉 重气氛 Claude Monet Claude Monet spent his childhood in La Havre. He first became known for his caricatures and exhibited this work locally. During this time, he befriended fellow artist Eugene Boudin who became his mentor. Boudin influenced Monet to begin plein air or outdoor painting. He also encouraged Claude to try oil paint and pastels, instead of charcoal as a medium for his artwork. Terrace at Sainte-Adresse (阳台在圣地址 ) Impression, Sunrise Impression, Sunrise Was painted in 1872 and the group of emerging artists were named Impressionists after an article in a newspaper laughingly referenced the style of painting. 1874 was the year of the First Impressionists Exhibition. The exhibition was held at a studio on the Boulevard des Capucines and also featured the work of other artists such as Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Berthe Morisot, and Paul Cezanne.
