2 2 扬州大学硕士学位论文 Abstract The Appreciation of Ancient Poetry ranks among the highest levels of the reading abilities in high school Chinese leaming．The focuses of this study are as follows， learning the significance and requirements of such teaching and learning，making clear the points tested and the form of the test，and thus establishing the key points and contents for teaching．This study is divided into three sections：an introduction，three chapters and a conclusion．In the introduction part，it mainly deals with the significance of doing this research，methods used and a literature review．The first chapter，according tO Exam Description，is about the requirements of this course in NMET，from four aspects，the principles of the propositi on，testing requirements for competence，testing forms and the structure of’the test paper．Chapter Two，in five parts，I’S tO introduce some of the points and folms more likely to be tested．The first part refers to a statistial table of items tested from 2005 to 2007，while the second one is an analysis of the testing foucuses，the form and the reason for the choices．Unlike the two parts above，this part mainlyanalyses some typically important items from the aspects of the affection implied， writing skills and the contents of the poems chosen．The next part is to summarise the question-and—answer models used in NMET．The trend of how the course may be tested in the future is the topic of the last part．Chapter Three is about the points commonly tested and the skills that can be used in NMET．This chapter Can also be divided into four parts．Three special poetic languages，the flexible use of some words，ellipse and inversion，are the topics of the first part．The second part deals with how to understand acurately the affection expressed in a certain peom，such as the concern about one’s country and people，rendering meritorious service，nostalgic lingering,one’
