Abstract In the urban transportation planning，the key point of the traditional software application is to establish and solute the complex urban transportation mathematical model.The data、model and the organic relation between results expressed as well as expression and the analysis of spatial relations data with the transportation closely are not sufficient.Some spatial analyses always take more time and trouble and the datas cannot be well used, moreover the direct-viewing is not very strong, which affected the plan level.GIS technology can combine the information relating to the distribution of geography spaces and the network graphs, analysis and process numbers of urban transportation information, has become the most useful tool of assisting the urban transportation plan. So,the paper do some application research on the application of GIS, for example discussing integrating transportation plan model into spatial analyses、displaying various special thematic maps and attempting to develop the transit planning and passenger flow forecast.
