For the sake of maintaining harmonious relations, politeness is employed as a strategy in interpreting for people to promote a better communication. This thesis can be divided into three parts: the first part provides a brief introduction of the whole thesis, including Politeness Principle of Leech and the essence of interpreting. The second part analyzes the six maxims of Politeness Principle in detail and cites some examples in interpreting to illustrate how they are applied in interpreting. The final part summarizes several main skills in interpreting under the direction of the Politeness Principle, which offer some references for the interpreter in their work. In a word, this thesis studies the politeness principle from the perspective of interpreting. The author gives the Politeness Principle of Leech in a deep exploration, trying to manifest its importance and instructive function in interpreting. Therefore, the Politeness Principle should be applied and evaluated in the practice of interpreting.
