Unit 8 Why don’t you get her a scarf? Section A (1a---2c) 玉泉一中 张春霞 I. Teaching Aims: 1. Language goals: 1) The students will be able to read and understand the following words: n. Album, comment; adj: personal, special 2). The students will be able to use the following ways to give advice and give comments. a) Make suggestions: What about ….? How about …..? Why don’t you get her/him….? Why not get her/him….? b) Give comments:(给评论) That’s a good idea. Sounds good/great. She/He will like it. That’s too personal/boring/ … . That’s not creative/special/ … enough. 2. Ability goals: Enable the students to learn suggestions and comments, then make dialogues by themselves. 3. Emotion and attitude goals: Enable the students to form positive attitude toward their parents and love their parents. II. Main points : Aim 1 and Aim 2 III. Difficult points: The students talk about suggestions and comments with different ways. Teaching Steps: Step 1: greetings and lead-in 1) The students and the teacher greet each other. 2) Lead in by a birthday song and tell the students to bring some gifts Step 2 Learn new words 1). Show some gifts and ask the students ,“What do you think of these gifts?.”(using objects) 2). Write down gifts and comments on the blackboard and teach the new words. n. Album, comment; adj: personal, special 3). Read the new words and remember them. 4). Check the words. Step 3 Presentation The teacher says, “Tomorrow is my mother’s birthday .What should I get my mom for her birthday? ” (Write the sentence on the blackboard.) then the teacher helps them to learn suggestions and comments. Read the sentences together. 3. Pairwork Show some pictures and get the students to ask and answer in pairs, then act it out. Step 4 Listening 2a and 2b 1) Listen and put a check .(Who is the person shopping for?) 2) Listen again and write the suggestions and comments. Ask and answer together about the listening. Step 5 Summary What have you learnt this class?
