(Period 3 Extensive Reading)
Hello, everyone, I’m greatly honored to have the opportunity to share my teaching ideas with you. My topic is “Chemical or organic farming?” It is taken from New senior English For China Student’s Book 4, Uint2. My plan consists of 6 parts: analysis of the teaching material, teaching aims, analysis of teaching theories and methods, analysis of the students, teaching process and blackboard design.
Part 1. Analysis of the teaching material.
1.The importance of this lesson
This lesson is an extensive reading passage. As is known to us, extensive reading is also very important to senior students. It can expand students’ vocabulary, improve their reading skills and increase their reading interest, so we must pay attention to this extensive reading material.
2.Teaching important and difficult points in this lesson.
Important points:
1)How to grasp the main idea of the passage.
2)To improve the students’ reading ability.
Difficult point:
How to grasp the new words and phrases and be able to use them freely.
Part2.Teaching aims
My teaching aims include 3 parts: knowledge aims, ability aims, and moral education aims.
1.Knowledge aims: by the end of the lesson, the students will have a better understanding of the meaning and structure of the text, know what chemical farming is and what organic farming is.
2.Ability aims:
1)Use some new words and expressions in this text.
2)Improve their reading skill and use English to express their ideas.
3.Moral education aims: know about chemical and organic farming, and learn that chemical farming is harmful to people’s health, and that farmers should try their best to produce organic product.
Part3.Analysis of teaching theories and methods.
When I deal with this lesson, I’ll try my best to carry out some teaching theories: taking the students as the host, and the teacher subordinate. Carry out task-ba
