The first period (Warming up, Pre-reading, Reading and Comprehending)
Teaching design:(教学设计说明)
This is the first period of this unit .At the beginning of the class, the teacher can lead in the topic of this unit by talking about local cultural relics and showing some pictures of cultural relics at home and abroad, then talk about them
The part Warming up presents some questions and pictures about cultural relics. The teacher can get students to know what to do. Then let them discuss and answer them in pairs
Pre-reading provides two questions. The teacher can go around the classroom and discuss the questions with students.
Reading is the key part of this unit. The teacher can first get the students to skim for key words and the main idea of each paragraph and the passage, and then scan for further understanding
To consolidate the content of the reading passage, the students should be required to retell the history of the Amber Room. In order to arouse students’ interest, the teacher can hold a competition between groups. By learning the passage the teacher can get students to learn about cultural relics protection and famous cultural relics in china and abroad
