Unit 4 Then and now B. Read and write What a dream! 教学设计 蒙城县庄子小学 何阳 Ⅰ.Analysis of textbook:The content of this period belongs to PEP Book II for Grade six. Part B Read and write is the fifth period of Unit 4. The topic is “What a dream”. Students should mainly know the three plots of Wu Yifan’s dream. Meanwhile students can fill in the blanks. They can also write a short passage of their different dreams. We should develop students’ language further and foster their thoughts while reading. Ⅱ.Analysis of students:My students are in Grade 6.They have already learned the past tense of the verbs in this book. Students have some skills of reading and get the main idea of this passage with the help of pictures. They have different experience of their dream. They want to share their dream with us. However, some of them still have difficulties in describing their ideas to others Ⅲ.Teaching objectives: 1 .Knowledge objectives: Students can master the key words: cheetah, nothing, dream ,race, etc. Moreover, students can master the sentence pattern:There was…”,There were…”. 2. Abilty objectives: Students can use the reading skills and get the main idea, meanwhile, they can guess the meaning of the words --- cheetah, tripped, fell, woke and dream in the context. 3. Emotional objectives: Students’ high awareness of following their dreams can be aroused. Ⅳ.Teaching key points: ⅰ.Students can master the new words and the past tense of the key verbs as well as their original verbs. ⅱ.Students can be familiar with how to grasp the gist. Ⅴ.Teaching difficult points:Students can master how to do quick reading. Ⅵ.Teaching preparation: PPT, a tape recorder, Ⅶ.Teaching steps: Step1. Warm-up 1. Greetings 2. Talk about students’ favorite animals. Then put forward a question: Which animal can run faster? 3. Ask students to think, to say. And teach the new words:”cheetah”, ”race” while communicate.
