Write the names of places that they have learned in the past on the blackboard. For example, at a restaurant, at the movie theater, at the beach, at the park, at the zoo, at school, at home, etc. Encourage students to answer I was at a/the . Use flashcards or realia to show the students cues for various places. Ask a girl and a boy to come to the front of the class. Point to one of them and then show the class the flashcards or realia cue. Encourage them to say He/ She was at …… as appropriate. Ask students to look at the pictures on page 1. Ask the students to name the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask the students where Sandy is. Then ask them the questions below the picture. It is best to give them some time to write the answers first. Then ask them to tell me the answers aloud. Language note: Explain to students that the weekend usually include Saturday and Sunday but sometimes Friday evening is considered to be part of the weekend. Some common expressions are last/ this/ next weekend. Note that no preposition is needed before last / this/ next weekend. A.
