The Group Task-pattern, Teaching, Pairwork
Teaching Steps
Step 1: Free talk
Lead-in: Show a movie to students. Talk about the animals in the movie with them. Lead into the topic.
T: Do you like this movie?
S: Yes.
T: Oh, I like it, too. It’s so interesting.
T: There’re many animals in this movie. They’re koala, elephant, giraffe, lion and so on.
Step2: Show some pictures to students. First let them use the description words they have learnt to describe the first three pictures, and then use some pictures to introduce the new description words.
(1) T: (point the tiger in the picture) What’s this?
S: It’s a tiger.
T: Yeah, it’s a tiger. It’s a scary tiger.
…
Step3: Ask students to look at the pictures in Section B 1, fill in the blanks in 1, and then check the answers.
Step4: Listening
Listen to the tape one time, circle the adjectives they heard in 1, and then check the answers.
Listen to the tape twice, fill in the chart in 2b.
Step5: show two pictures of my favorite animals. Describe the animals.
