I III Abstract Singularly perturbed differential equations appear in several branches of ap- plied mathematics. A good number of articles have been appearing in the past two to three decades on non-classical methods, which cover mostly second order equations. But only few authors have developed numerical methods for singularly perturbed higher order differential equations. This paper has Studied decomposition algorithm based on maximum prin- ciple for singularly perturbed problems. In the introduction part, we introduce the the characters of Singularly perturbed problems, its current research and a summary about my works in this thesis. In the second chapter, first of all, we have decomposed singularly perturbed problems for third order ordinary differential equations into the first order ordi- nary differential equations and singularly perturbed problems for second order ordinary differential equations. Secondly, we use asymptotic expansion coefficient of the third order ordinary differential equations and get new third order ordinary differential equations. Further, we make use of Maximum principle to get error estimates. In the third chapter, we discuss singularly perturbed problems for second order ordinary differential equations of finite element method with application of the basic theory of partial differential equations and the finite element analysis method the basic error.
