Unit 3 I’m more outgoing than my sister.
Period 1
Teaching aims:
Knowledge object: Key vocabulary. Target language. Oral Practice.
Ability object: Learning skill. Speaking skill. Communicative competence
Moral object: Learn to play a musical instrument.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
Is that Sam?
No, that’s Tom. He has shorter hair than Sam. And He’s calmer than Sam.
Is that Tina?
No, it isn’t. It’s Tina. Tara’s shorter than Tina.
Teaching aids: A tape recorder. A projector. Some objects.
Teaching methods: Listening and speaking methods. Communicative approach.
Teaching procedures:
Step I Greeting
Greet the class as usual and check the homework.
Step II Lead-in
Show pictures and compare them using adjectives as big and small, tall and short, funny.
e.g. Ball A is bigger than Ball B, Ball B is smaller than Ball A.
Step III 1a
Ask students to do this activity individually. Then check and answers.

Step IV 1b
First tell students what the twins are. Twins are children born at the same time to the same parents, but not always. Then do the listening task.
Step V 1c Pair work
Ask two students to read the sample conversation to the class.
A: Is that Tara?
B: No, it isn’t. It’s Tina. Tara’s shorter than Tina..
Then let students work with a partner. Make conversation work with the partner.
Step VI Grammer
First show adjectives and adverbs, and their comparatives, find the rules.
Step VII Listening
2a Listen. Are the words in the box used with –er or more? Complete the chart.
2b Listen again. How are Tina and Tara different?
Check the answers.
Step VIII Pair work
Two students as a pair, student A, look at the chart on the right. Student B, look at the chart on page 81. Ask and answer questions about Sam and Tom.
A: Is Tom funnier than Sam? B: No, he isn’t. Sam is funnier than Tom.
Step IX Reading
2d read the conversation and match the people with the right things. The role
