Period 1 of Section B: 2a~2e Reading
Knowledge and ability objects:
1: Key vocabulary and phrases:

2: Target language:
Mickey is a black mouse with two large round ears.
The man behind Mickey was Walt Disney.
One of the main reasons is that Mickey was like a common man, but he always tried to face any danger.
He was always ready to try his best.
3: Reading practice.
4: To train students’ reading ability and integrating skills by task-based activities.
Teaching important and difficult points:
1. To enable students to know more about the background of Mickey Mouse.
2. To enable students to find out the general idea of each paragraph and key points in reading.
To enable students to say something about Mickey.
To enable students to say other cartoon characters.
Teaching procedures and activities:
Step One. Warm-up and lead in.
1. Greet the students, have a dance about Ultraman.
2. Talk about more cartoon characters and play a guessing game.
Step Two. Pre-reading.
Watch a micro class about Mickey Mouse to introduce some background of Mickey and enjoy a video about Steamboat Willie.
Step Three. While-reading.
Task 1: Skim for the main idea.
Task 2: Read the whole passage loudly and slowly. Find out the main idea of each paragraph.
Task 3: Read quietly and carefully. Complete the time line.
Task 4: Listen to paragraph 2, underline the key words and finish the learning paper. Tell the reasons of why Mickey Mouse became so popular.
Task 5: Have a competition by making sentences.
Step Four. Post-reading.
Task 6: Further discuss some questions in pairs.
Task 7: Group work: Let students describe a cartoon character which has positive power with group members, then share the cartoon character in front of the classroom to let others guess who he is.
Step Five. Consolidation.
