What were you doing when the rainstorm came?
Period: 1(Section A 1a-1c
Teaching goals:
Knowledge aims:
1.Key vocabulary: rainstorm, suddenly, alarm, begin, strange
2.Target language:what were you doing yesterday at this time of the rainstorm? So ,when the rainstorm suddenly came, what were you doing?
Ability aims:
1. The students can use the questions to get information to improve their listening and speaking abilities.
2. To train the students’ cooperation with their partners.
Emotional aims:
To train the students to care about others and foster friendly human relationship through talking about the past experience.
Teaching important points:
The past Progressive Tense (was/ were doing ).
Note its grammar meaning and use “what” questions to ask about the past activities.
Teaching difficult points:
The students can ask questions to get information to improve their listening and speaking abilities.
Teaching aids:
CAI , a recorder, some teaching pictures
Teaching steps:
Step1.Warm-up
Greet the whole class as usual
Lend in by showing a video of a person walking in the rainstorm helplessly.And talk about this situation with students.
T:Can you guess what’s the feeling of the person?Have you ever had the same experience?Can you share the experiences with us?
Let’s have a try:
On 23 June,2011 I was reading books in the classroom when the rainstorm came.where were you doing when the rainstorm came? what were you doing when the rainstorm came? (take some Ss answer my question)
S1:I was studying in the classroom.
S2:I was talking with my friends on the piayground.
S3:I was reading in the library.
Step2.Presentation
1.Show on the screen some activity pictures and revises the Present Continuous Tense.
2.Show on the screen some pictures and learn the new verb tense.
3. Let Students to ask and answer in class
4.Ask Ss read this sentences aloud to get the pronunciation right.
Step3.Listening practice
Listen to the TV reporter and circle the corr
