Knowledge Objectives:
Ss can master the meaning, structure and the usage of the Past Progressive Tense and the clause of when and while.

Ss can learn to describe what people were doing by using the Past Progressive Tense and the when and while clause.

Step 1 Warming up
Ask Ss to make sentences one by one with when and while.
E.g.: I was doing the dishes at eight last night. What were you doing while Ms. Xie was doing the dishes?
While Ms. Xie was doing the dishes, I was sleeping….
设计意图:学生句子接龙能够为课堂活跃气氛,达到预热效果。
Step 2 Check homework online
Open the teacher’s QQ message and check Ss’ homework---make conversations in pairs with the Past Progressive Tense.
Correct the mistakes about the conversations.
设计意图:运用QQ群作业功能,展示前一天学生口语作业的完成情况,既检查了作业,又提升了学生的学习积极性。
Step 3 Presentation
1. Show a task-chain on the screen. The chain is used for finishing tasks in this class. One road-block is one task.
2. Tell Ss they are going for an adventure trip to hunt for treasure.
设计意图:用闯关探险寻宝来吸引学生融入课堂,提高学习语法的兴趣。
Step 4 Task1 Guessing game
Watch a video about a disaster. Ask Ss what happened.
Show some pictures of Chinese famous persons and guess what they were doing at that time.
Ask: What was he/she/were they doing at the time of…/while/when…?
设计意图:用龙卷风的视频来导入,设定动作发生的时间,通过图片让学生猜测名人在当时正在进行的动作,进一步激发学生的想象力和说英语的渴望。用人物不同的性别和数量来复习过去进行时的基本句型。
