The The Research of Development of the Walnut Industry in Dahua County Xie Linzhong (College ofAgriculture，Guangxi University，Nanning 530004，China) Abstract Dahua has typical developing karst landform．There are more mountains than flat land in this area．Plus rocky desertification degree is too high that mountainous areas’life quality and production has been restricted．Also the same reason leads to outstanding poverty issues，slowed regional economic development．The walnut tree has functions including water conservation，soil conservation efficacy and also higher economic efficiency,which is ideal tool for managing rocky desertification and economic development of forestry dominant tree species．This study applies field research method which systematically look into the current situation of walnut industry in Dahua．Through combining literature analysis and experience summary find out the advantages and disadvantages of the walnut industry in Dahua．From the above advices and strategy can be concluded for walnut industry locally．This research covers 3 villages in Dahua，up to 400 forestry units． The conclusions of this study are below： 1．Dahua has the requirements to be a ideal area for walnut industry as the weather is suitable，distinctive natural resources，many population in villages and good infrastructure from villages to city． 2．There are enormous demands in both domestic and international market．Have a lot of support policy．Have scientific research units support．Abundant flat lands for planting． Above are all the advantages of further developing the walnut industry in Dahua． 3．The total existing walnut planted area is estimated 203thousands acres．The walnut demonstration base total area is around 45thousands acres．Yangbi bulla Night Walnut is the most planted walnut and the investment is 47，93 86millions in total． 4．The restrictions are(1)lack of investment；(2)management is poor；(3)lack of II 万方数据 public public recognition；(4)the serious problem of plant diseases a
