In recent years some universities have put a series of weird questions to the applicants in their interviews of independent enrollment, causing a stir among the students and society. They have sharply divided opinions.
People in favor of it state that the interview is a fantastic way for colleges to find students that they really need. It may contribute to building up students’ abilities to answer questions as well as think independently and critically, due to their challenging questions, which perhaps even don’t have an exact answer.
At the same time, others hold a quite different point of view. They believe that some questions are so odd and strange that students may have butterflies in their stomach and don’t know what to do when faced with them. What’s more, such questions are not able to make out whether a student is smart or hard-working enough.
As far as I am concerned, I belong to the supporters. We should make the most of the chance to show ourselves, which can be a great treasure to our life. These questions also warn us not to be buried in papers and books in case we are totally not familiar with the changing world.
In short, only when we improver our competence, can we cope with all of these as a piece of cake.
