Abstract
Transmission which has a critical influence on vehicles driving, safety and comfort performance is the core components of automotive driveline. The synchronizer is key component of transmission. The synchronizing performance can directly influence the shift performance of the transmission. In order to understand the relations between the design parameter and the shifting performance, the dynamics and kinematics characteristics in the process of the ring-spring synchronizer were studied in the thesis. The frictional wear of the cone and fatigue fracture injury of synchronizer ring were also concerned in thesis. The research was aimed at providing a new design method of synchronizer design.
The synchronization process was divided into nine stages according to the interaction relations of the synchronization parts and the synchroinzer’s structure. Referred to the design parameters which were affecting synchronizing process, such as the cone half-angle, tooth locking angle and annular spring stiffness were analyzed respectively. The Synchronization performance calculation method of the ring spring synchronizer was obtained by the previous analysis.
The force was generated by the ring spring in the stage of pre-synchronization. The stiffness of the ring spring was calculated by theoretical equation and finite element analysis. The pre-synchronizatin force was consistent by the two calculation methods, and the force was the load which applied on the cross-section of the ring shoulder. The stress intensity factors(SIF) at the dangerous section were calculated by the fatigue crack model of the ring. The type of crack and the crack grown angle were got by the SIF. The influence between the contact area and the crack propagation mechanism was also studied in the thesis.
