Chinese J ou rnal of Ecology ,2002 ,21 (5) :40～48. The invasion of exotic plant s is a severe problem due to it s tremendous damage and imp act . The management and assess ment s of exotic plant s are very important . The effective assessment s include : ①t he prop erties related to establishment of exotic plant . ②t he factors which influence t he spread of exotic plant s ; ③t he imp act s of exotic sp ecies. When evaluating exotic sp ecies , t he t hree asp ect s should be integrated to assess exotic plant s. Every guideline of assessment plays different role in assessment of different exotic sp ecies. At t he same time , it is becoming increasingly important to predict which sp ecies will invade an area alien to t hem and to estimate what harm t hey can do . Three ways of predicting invasions of ex otic sp ecies ,should be conducted . Models may help us to evaluate t he influence of exotic sp ecies. Managing exotic plant s , esp ecially t he ext hose wit h large distribution area , requires a coordinated strategy based on coop eration among all dep art ment s , which include forestry , agriculture , fishery , all land manag
