Abstract
Abstract
Since the establishment of Chinese secondary education system at the end of Qing Dynasty, the system developed much more than before. But compared with Primary
education,Higher education,and Normal education, it still was the weak link in the entire
educational system. It was an important period for the development of secondary education from 1912 to 1927. During this period, general secondary education had experienced a series of adjustments and reforms. After transforming the feudal old education and establishing the
bourgeoisies new education system,general secondary education had also experienced
several disputes and questions, such as the separation of liberal arts and practical courses of study, the establishment of two-shift school system,the separation and elective of course
and the coeducation in middle school. Although these disputes and exploration didn’t basically changed the disadvantageous status of the middle school , it did enormously cause people’s attention to the goal, function, curriculum and teaching method of secondary education. At the same time, these exploration became the harbinger and preparation of the reform of school system in 1922. The secondary education hasn’t finally obtained the pivotal
status in the school system, and entered a recent development time from then until “Renxu
school system” promulgated and middle schools 3-3 divisional systems and the comprehensive high school systems established.
Taking the comprehensive collection of historical material and the theoretical analysis as a foundation, this article tries hard to hold several important questions and comprehensively reveal complexity of the secondary education . It is helpful for the secondary education reform today to summarize the historical experience and lesson of the secondary education development earnestly.
