The capacity of environment resource became nearly limited; severely restrict Chinas economic development. Marxism is an important theoretical guidance for building socialism with Chinese characteristics, so is ecological thought of Marxism. Therefore, studying the ecological thought of Marxism and its development will undoubtedly be important for the transformation of the economic and social development, the growth mode of the economic and social development as well as applying the Scientific Outlook on Development. This paper mainly focuses on elaborating ecological thoughts which come from the works of Marx, Engel’s, gathering the environmental protection measures taken by the generations of leaders of the party after new China establish. It also summed up the lessons of environmental protection in the process of socialist construction. This thesis is aimed at finding a proper way to solve the existing environmental and social problems and combine theory with practice. The thesis first gives the basic definition of ecology and ecological ideology, ecological civilization. It clarifies the evolution and the course of development from ecology to ecological civilization and talks about ecological thought by Marx and Engel’s in the early and late works from multi-angle and multi-level. It includes the natural mystical idea should be critiqued and the natural transformation should be advanced and retreated by mankind and reasonable substances transform should be made, the global ecological crisis mainly caused by the capitalist mode of production. Moreover, this paper offers the ecological thoughts in Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents.
