The The study on the Evolution of Urban Spatial Structure in ShanTou City Major：Human Geography Name：Zhang Caiyun Supervisor：Prof．Chen Lie；Associate Prof．Wu Qing Ab stract With the implementation of the economic level in the cities and the improvement of reform policies about the land utilization system and the expansion of the urban space and the development of the inside structure accelerated．It is already obvious that urban spatial stmcture conflicts with city modernization，the city sustainable development day by day．It has hindered the improvement of the urban operational efficiency seriously． Based the theories of motive and influencing factor of the former and the development of the urban spatial structure inside，this paper wants to improve the urban competitiveness and realize the goal of sustainable development of the city．At first，the paper summarized theories about the urban spatial structure；Secondly,the paper takes time axis to analyze the history development and the developing mechanism in ShanTou citY．Lastly,based the urban spatial structure’S theories and current situation in ShanTou city,the paper predicts the trend of ShanTou city’S urban spatial structure．Therefore，it is divided into 7 chapters．In chapter 1，the author summarized the relative definition，theories，factors and mechanism about urban spatial structure． Based the analysis of the former chapter,chapter 2 brings forward the research design．Chapter 3 analyses the urban spatial structure’S characteristics and developing direction in ShanTou city’S different periods．Chapter 4 analyses the evolution of main lands structure and summarizes their problems．Chapter 5 points out that nature，community,economy,politics，traffic the main influencing factors during the evolution of ShanTou city’S urban spatial structure，and they form the basic mechanism，inherent mechanism，explicit mechanism which promote ShanTou city’S development．Chapter 6 designs rational ShanTou city’S urban spatial structu
