ABSTRACTThis ABSTRACT This thesis takes Shen Deqian’S commentaries on the pre-Tang dynasty poetry which is divided into several periods as the object，based on the development of Shen’S critical attitudes towards which，the thesis has adopted a juxtaposed structure of summary—separately expound-summary to fabricate the passage，which means the the first section of the first chapter gives a brief introduction tO the general accomplishment of Shen’S commentaries on the pre-Tang dynasty poetry, and then the first to the fourth chapter discuss Shen’S commentaries on the attributes of the poetry of pre-Qin dynasty,Han dynasty,Wei and Jin dynasties，as well as the Nan—Bei and Sui dynasties separately．As for the poetry of pre·Qin dynasty,the content is divided into three parts，which are‘the ancient lost’poetry,The Book of Songs，The Anthology of Chu-state Poetry；as for the poetry of Wei and Jin dynasties，the chapter is also divided into three parts，namely‘‘the poetry of Wei dynasty，‘the poetry of Jin dynastry’’and‘‘Tao Yuanming’’as well；as for the third chapter,it’S divided into three parts too，which are the poetry of Liu Song dynasty,the Qi—Liang dynasties，and the Chen-Sui dynasties．Through the specific analysis of the first to the fourth chapters，the paper delineates the style，the introductory thoughts and the overall content of Shen’S criticism and analysis on the poetry of pre-Tang dynasty．What’S more，the ending paragraphs of each chapter is the discussion，generalization of the characteristics of Shen’S attitudes and criteria on each phase．As for the II last last part，namely the conclusion，it is a general view of the overall accomplishment and value of Shen’S criticism on the poetry of pre—Tang dynasty which is separated into different periods，and points out that the general representation and reason of the change of his attitudes，SO as tO find out the sources of his commentaries and the limitation of his theory． Key words：Shen Deqian；The Source ofAncient Poetry；Shuo Shi
