London Marathon and Beijing Marathon both started in 1981. “Run for charity” is the biggest highlight of London Marathon. In 2007. London Marathon raised 46.5 million pounds for charity which made itself as the largest annual charity event in the world verified by Guinness World Record. In 2008, the record was broke by London Marathon itself and the new record for charity fund raised is 46.7 million pounds. This thesis uses literature research, expert interview and field exploring etc, analyzes the inspiration of “run for charity” of London Marathon to “charity race” of Beijing Marathon. The complete system of laws and regulations on charity of England constructs the healthy environment for the development of “run for charity” of London Marathon. The unique system of charity committee ensures the function of the charity committee not to be influenced by the government, and the principle of action of the charity committee is to promote and better charity within the purposes of its trust; the favorable taxation system will exempt the organizations and individuals which take out charity actions from most direct and indirect taxes; the strict fund-raising system regulates the fund-raising actions and events; the strict audit and supervision system ensures the double supervision from both the charity committee and the public. The following modifications of the charity company have to be approved by the charity committee: the purpose clause of the company charter, the clause for the use and method of use of the assets of the company, the certificate which will benefit the managers or members of the company.
