Methods: By convenience sampling, totally 293 ICU nurses in 2 tertiary general hospitals in Wenzhou were investigated with a modified career planning questionnaire. Results: The average score of ICU nurses career planning was 86.33±15.39. The 2 dimensions with the lowest scores were self-recognition and environmental assessment, and the 2 dimensions with the highest scores were action plan and career objective. The scores of career planning were statistically different among nurses of different gender, position, educational background, professional title, and length of work (P0.05). Conclusion: We should give more attention to ICU nurses career planning. Career planning related courses should be provided in nursing colleges. Hospital and department managers should give ICU nurses related continuing education and management according to their characteristics.
