Geological Earth Time
The geological history of Earth follows the major events in Earths past based on the
geologic time scale, a system of chronological measurement based on the study of the
planets rock layers (stratigraphy). Earth formed by accretion from the solar nebula, a disk-
shaped mass of dust and gas left over from the formation of the Sun, which also created
the rest of the Solar System. No matter the past or now, people are always curious about
the actual age of the Earth.
Most part of the attempts to discover the geological earth age happened in 19th century.
One geologist named Lyell found a solution to figure out this difficulty by using fossil records
as the evidence. He took fossil slices and checked the material preserved inside in order
to estimate the time they formed. This idea did help, but since the fossil records were not
successive, it was unconvincing for any profound researches. Furthermore, there was no
organism on the original earth and the fossils scientists analyzed were pressured under
rock and mountain for thousands of years, which greatly minus their reliability.
Another method is to analyze stratum, since the nature process has constant rate to build
up. Stratum refers to a combination of various formation of stratified and non-stratified rock
during the development of the crust. Earth was initially molten due to extreme volcanism
and frequent collisions with other bodies. Eventually, the outer layer of the planet cooled
to form a solidcrust when water began accumulating in the atmosphere. This formation
process of earth
