Ability aims: enable students to skim, scan and get the topic sentences through reading. Affection and value: arouse students pride in traditional Chinese culture, especially traditional festivals. 六、教学重难点: Key points: Words and phrases related to the reading passage. Which festival are they celebrating?(图片1:People celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, they are having a big dinner. 图片2:full moon. 图片3:a mooncake) Give a general introduction of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Step 2 Skimming 让学生快速阅读课文,并回答以下问题: How do people celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival? (Key words: by admiring the moon, getting together with their families, eating big dinner or mooncakes, drinking tea or wine, etc.) What story is the reading about? (One possible version: The text tells us the origin (起源) of the Mid-Autumn Festival. It tells us the folk story of Hou Yi and Chang’e and how people began the tradition of celebrating the Mid-Autumn and eating mooncakes with their families.) Topic sentences and structure Para.1: A general introduction of the history of the festival and mooncakes. Para.2: The folk story of Chang’e and Hou Yi.
