Step 1.Warm up.
Let’s sing: My new pen pal.
Step 2. Lead in.
Free talk.
Do you know the meaning of “pen pal”? Do you have a pen pal? What’s he/she like? Today we are going to learn Unit Four I have a pen pal.
Step 3. Presentation.
(1) My pen pal: Lucy.
Show students some pictures and tell them something about my pen pal: Her name is Lucy. She is from New Zealand. She likes doing kung fu and swimming.
(2) Let’s try.
Zhang Peng has a pen pal,too. Now he is talking with Oliver about his pen pal. Listen and then write T(true) or F(false).
(3) Let’s talk.
◆Now we know Peter is Zhang Peng’s pen pal. He is tall and he likes basketball. Do you want to know more something about him? Let’s go and have a look!
◆Ask students to listen to the tape and answer the question: What are Peter’s hobbies?
Yes, he likes reading stories, doing kung fu, swimming and singing. What about Zhang Peng’s and Oliver’s hobbies? Ask students to read the dialogue and try to find the answers.
◆Peter likes singing. Zhang Peng likes singing, too. They have the same hobby. And Zhang Peng is going to teach Peter the Chinese song “Jasmine Flower”! Do you know “Jasmine Flower”? Y
