Plant caloric value is termed as heat emitted by plant materials after complete combustion of dry matter . It in dicates cap ability of plant s to fix solar radiation and t herefore it is one of t he characters of plant and an impor tant index of primary production . Some asp ect s of plant caloric value study were reviewed in t he p ap er ,includ ing changes of caloric value at organic ,individual and community levels ,sp atial and temporal dynamics of plant caloric value ,effect s of component s ,ash content s and some environmental factors on caloric value of plant ma terials.
