一、 自主先学:
To present pictures and create the context to elicit some key words or phrases .At the same time ,the teacher can check if the students have previewed the text.
( this step is to develop students’good study habits )
To play the recorder and let students pay attention to the pronunciation of the new words and underline the new words that they don’t understand .
To do Part B1.
二、 背景介绍:
1.There was an earthquake in Taiwan in 1999. 12,000buildings fell down . 100,000people became homeless . Over 1,700 people lost their lives .A boy called Timmy survived .Do you want to know Timmy ?
2.To present two questions and let students read quickly and find out the answers
三、Skimming and scanning
1.)What was Timmy doing when the earthquake happened ?
2)Was he saved at last ?
( this step is to develop students’the ability of skimming )
3 )To present some questions and let students read the text and do T/F exercises
4)Discussion : How many paragraphs are there in the text ? How many parts can we divide it into ?
5) To present a table and let students read the text and fill in the tables.
6) To let students read paragraph (3-5 ) and then do exercises .
