Important and different points 1) Important point Students will be guided to extract the information about Auckland from the passage. Difficult point Students will answer the questions accurately. 3. Teaching and learning methods Situational teaching method;communicative teaching method; task-based teaching method;group work method;cooperation study method; independent study method 4. Teaching procedure Step 1: Lead in I will play a short video about New Zealand to help students have a better understanding of the country and arouse their interest of this class. And I will emphasize the important points for students. Step 2:Pre-reading The teacher will ask students to discuss “what do you know or want to know about New Zealand?” in groups of four. Some messages will be given: time,event,figure and so on. Step 3:While-reading 1)Fast reading The teacher will ask students to read the text quickly and summarize the main idea of the paragraph. 2)Detailed reading Ask students to read the paragraph carefully and find out the answers to the questions bellowing. a) When did European settlement begin ? b)Who is New Zealand’s first governor and made Auckland the capital? c) Why did the capital move to Wellington? … Then students listen to me to read the passage and check their answers. Step 4:Post-reading Students will be asked to make a time line about the history of Auckland. They will write down anything that they remember without looking at the article. Then, students will discuss with their group members and complement each other. At last, one or two students will be asked to show their work. Step 5:Summary and homework Summary: A
