The Film Critics on Wrestle, Dad The hero of the film is a wrestler who has failed to become a world champion. He bowed to life pressure and had to give up wrestling, but he never forgot his championship dream. He wanted a son to help him finish the dream. However, God seems to making fun of him, and all his four children are girls. Although frustrated, he was surprised to find that his two daughters had a talent for wrestling when he was about to give up. So he picked up his hope again and started a difficult wrestling coaching trip. India is a male-predominated caste country where women’ social and family status is very low, especially in low-caste families. Under this circumstance, when the father began to train his daughters to wrestle, people around him sneered at him. What’s worse, his wife did not support him, even the daughters who were trained felt too bitter to work. Fortunately, at a wedding, what the sad bride said changed the two daughters’ opinions. Like many Indian girls, the girl learned to do all kinds of housework at a young age, then married a man who she had never met at the age of seventeen or eighteen. Therefore, she admired the wrestler’s daughters a great deal whose father had designed a path to freedom and dignity for them. From then on, the daughters began to train hard and finally succeeded in realizing their father’s dream. There is no doubt that the daughters are lucky, because their father has led them to reach the pinnacle in their life. Meanwhile, their success has had a positive impact on improving the status of Indian women. Nevertheless, the careful persons can find that this work has been emphasizing that it is the father’s broad and long-term view, long- time perseverance and superb wrestling skills that have made the two daughters realize their dreams. Hence, it extols a great father who does nit give up on his own dream is not a complete feminist work instead of completely advocating feminist. This is a commercial film and
