Unit 4 There are seven days in a week. Lesson 23 【Teaching Aims】 1．Learn the new sentences: What do you usually do on weekends? I usually do something on Saturdays / Sundays. 2．Learn the following words: weekend, park, theme park 3．Let’s play. 【Teaching Important and Difficult Points】 1．Comprehend and apply the patterns “What do you usually do on weekends? I usually do something on Saturdays / Sundays. 2．Learn the phrases “go to the theme park, see my grandpa and grandma, have music classes, go roller skating 【Teaching Methods】 Speaking and practice. 【Teaching Aids】 recorder, picture, cards 【Teaching Procedures】 Step 1 Revision 1．Sing a song “Days of the week”. 2．Ask the students to answer the following questions according to the real situations. T: What day is today? How many classes do you have today? What classes do you have today? What’s the first class? How many … classes do you have in a week? When do you have … classes? What’s your favorite subject? Step 2 Presentation 1．Teach the new words “park, theme park, and weekend” T: What’s this? Who knows? Ss: It’s a park. (Teach “theme park” in the same way.) T: What’s this? (Holding up the picture of a weekend.) It’s weekend. It’s Saturday and Sunday. We have no classes on Saturday and Sunday. We have no classes on weekends. 2．Teach the patterns “What do you do on weekends? Explain the meaning of the sentence. And then ask some students to answer it in Chinese. Step 3 Practice 1．Put the wall chart on the blackboard. 指着图中去公园、上音乐课、去看望爷爷奶奶、滑旱冰等情景图继续提问问题：What do you usually do on weekends? Let the students answer it in Chinese first. Encourage them to express using English they have learnt. 2．Teach the phrases above. 3．Listen to the tape recording. 4．Listen and repeat the dialogue several times. 5．Practise the dialogue in groups. 6．Play a guessing game. Please guess some words and phrases they have learnt according to the actions the teacher does. 7．Talk about the pictures with the pattern they have learnt in rows.
