SAC/TC 243 is in charge of this English translation.In case of any doubt about the contents
of English translation,the Chinese original shall be considered authoritative.
The standard is drafted in accordance with the rules given in the GB/T 1.1-2009.
The standard replacesthe GB/T5153-2003 Designationandcompositionofwroughtmagnesium and
magnesium alloys in whole.
Inadditiontoanumberofeditorialchanges,thefollowingtechnicaldeviationshavebeenmade
with respect to the GB/T 5153-2003.
—Added the element codes J and V which represent the element Sr or Gd respectively;
—Added the representations for the limiting values;
—Basedontheresearchanddevelopmentofthemagnesiumalloyseries,perfectedthegroups
of the magnesium alloys,which are as follows respectively:Mg-Al、Mg-Zn、Mg-Mn、Mg-RE、
Mg-Gd、Mg-Y、Mg-Zr and Mg-Li；
—Added the requirements of the compositional analysis and sampling;
—Added forty-six designations and their compositions.
This standard was proposed by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association.
This standard was prepared by SAC/TC 243 State Administration of China for Standardization
of Nonferrous Metals.
