Global food crisis ------causes prediction defenses Introduction Since 2008, food price in some Southeast Asian countries keeps on rising, and it not only gives rise to demand-exceeds-supply in grain markets for many countries, but also involves into global food crisis. According to the statistic of World Bank, the price of international wheat increased 181 percent in last 3 years by the end of February 2008, and the general food prices increased 83%. Whats more, worldwide food reserves are at their lowest from the year 1980, the Food and Agriculture (FAO) estimated the prices are likely to stay high for the foreseeable future, at least 10 years. From this viewpoint, the days are gone when the food is relatively cheap, what facing the world today is the great challenge of global food crisis. (FAO 2008) (FAO 2008) This time the food crisis shows itself with many unique characteristics: great increase, long duration, large-scope effects, intensive influence, etc. Firstly, according to the analyses of researchers, the world food price have shown a rapid increase in momentum. By the end of the year 2007, the worldwide wheat had soared 112.0%, soyabean prices shot up 75.1%, corn prices jumped by 47.3%, and the rice prices increased 3.1%. From January to February of the year 2008, the global food prices has risen 9% again. The trend of rising food prices can be indicated by the monthly tendency of world grain prices and FAO food price index. Secondly, since the end of second world war, the events of increasing global food prices happened twice, which were in the year 1973-1974 and the year 1994-1995 respectively. The global food crisis today comes from steady rising food prices and long-term accumulation.Thirdly, the global food crisis is widespread. According to the communique of FAO, at present there are 37 countries in the world are facing the food crisis due to the war and nature disasters. (FAO2008) The purpose of the article
