The green wave app will be tested in a pilot study in the city of Breda. The paper describes the app, the pilot study and other opportunities for the concept. If it takes too long, they tend to ignore the red light and just take the risk of passing the intersection anyway. That’s why we introduce: Evergreen on bike. With this app on your smartphone, cyclists can communicate with traffic controllers and receive information about the upcoming green phase. With this they obtain an advice about which speed they should maintain to arrive at the right time at the traffic signal to get the green light. In this manner, cyclists don’t have to stop and can continue their journey safely and comfortably. This innovative concept aims to improve the position of cycling in comparison to car driving.
