The test is performed on the A25 urban motorway in the region of Lille, North France. We first present the site and we describe the process used for travel time estimation by each technology. Next, we compare these estimates for variable length trips. Analysis is carried out separately for passenger cars and heavy vehicles. Various settings are also considered in the comparison: peak hour, off-peak hours, working day, holiday, rain, etc. Furthermore, stable affine relationships between the two travel time estimates are calibrated. Results are promising as they may allow to manage some parts of the network, not equipped with inductive loops, using only FCD. Keywords: Travel time, inductive loops, floating car data (FCD).
