Jiangsu Province Collaborative Innovation Center of Modern Urban Traffic Technologies, SiPaiLou #2, Nanjing 210096, China; Abstract Because of the rapid development of multimodal transportation system, there is an increasing tendency to travel by choosing multiple traffic modes. As a result, how to model an individual’s travel preference on traffic modal choice is receiving more and more researchers’ interests. The difficulties of travel preference modeling lies on two aspects: how to model the utility values of each traffic mode options and how to formulate the individual’s psychological decision-making process. A new model framework that contains travel utility model and decision-making model is proposed to solve the problem. To test the feasibility of the model framework, we construct a simplified travel preference model involving expressway mode, subway mode and park-and-ride mode.
