Unit 6 Birdwatching Welcome Reading 一、教材分析: This lesson aims to introduce some birds on two aspects: characteristics and appearance t o arouse the students ‘ interest in birds in the wild. 二、教学目标: 1. To learn the common names of birds 2. To revise and expand vocabulary in the context wildlife and conservation. 3. To get more detailed information about Zhalong Nature Reserve. 三、教学重点 : 1. To develop the ability to infer the general meaning from title and context. 2. To make sure the students know the importance of wetlands and nature reserves 四、教学难点:  1. To reinforce  students  ability  to skim text  for  overall  meaning and scan for details 2. To grasp some useful expressions and language points. 五、教学策略: 1. Reading and skimming 2. Audio-visual method 六、教学准备: ppt, tape 七、教学环节: Step 1: Lead-in 1. Comic strip. We love birds. Eddie loves birds, too. Listen to the tape and find the answers to the following questions. Does Eddie really like going birdwatching? Where does Eddie go to watch birds? Why does Eddie think so? Practice reading in pairs and try to act it out. Step2: Welcome to the unit 1. Show the pictures of different kinds of birds and talk about them focusing on what’s special about the birds. 2. Do Part A on Page69. 3. Practice. Show the pictures together and then get the students to give their names. Make sure all the students can read the names correctly. 4. Practice Part B on Page69 in pairs. Make up new conversations using Part B as a model and act them out. Step 3: Reading 1. Show some pictures. Ask the question: Do you know birdwatching society and birdwatcher? Listen to Sandy and answer the following questions: 1). Where is Zhalong Nature Reserve? 2). Why is it a perfect place for wildlife? 3). Why are more and more birds in danger? Do part B1 、B2 on the Ss ’ textbooks. Check the answers one by one. Do part B3. Read the article then do True or false. Check the answers. Do part B4.
