Step 1 Warm up and lead in
1.Watch a video about the weather, lead in the situation and learn the new words.
Show some pictures about Tom,practice the sentences: “Where were you when the rainstorm came? and What were you doing when the rainstorm came? ”
Ask students “what about you?”“Where were you when the rainstorm came? and What were you doing when the rainstorm came? ”
Let students finish 1a and practice the sentences according to the pictures.
Step 2 Listening practice I
Lead in.A reporter interviewed these people and asked them what they were doing at the time of the rainstorm.Listen to 1b and circle the correct responses.
Let students finish 1b and practice the sentences according to the pictures.

Step 3 Listening practice II

2b. Listen again. Fill in the blanks in the sentences in 2a.Let students listen to the pictures one by one and then check the answers.
