Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warm-up
Time goes quickly. Now we have stepped into December. During this year, we have experienced many things. What do you think of this year? Have you spent a good year? What do you want to say to people around you?
As a student, we spend most of the time with our classmates. Let’s see what they have experienced. Watch some videos and discuss “Did they behave well?” and “What should they do?”
Do you have family rules? Why do parents set these rules for you?
Step 2 Pre-reading
Look at the title and the picture. Can you guess:
a. What does the title mean?
b. Do you agree with it?
c. What kind of text are we going to read?
d. What do you think the poem is about?
Now, listen to the tape, try to realize its beauty and get a general understanding of the poem.
Step 3 While-reading
Answer questions
a. Who do you think wrote the poem?
b. What did he write about?
c. Why did he write the poem?
