T: The man is very kind-hearted. He always helps people. Look. What is he doing? S: He is repairing the bike. T: We can also say that he is… S: He is fixing up the bike. T: Good. Fixing up a thing means repairing a thing. 2. Learn other phrasal verbs in the same way. Step 2 Work on 1a 1. Read the instructions to the students. Make sure that each one knows what to do. 2. Let the stu dents look at the sentences in the left column first. Try to explain the four sentences in English for the children, especially the new phrasal verbs in the sentences. 3. Ask the students to match the sentences with similar meanings. 6. Check the answe rs by asking different students to read their matched sentences. Step 3 Work on 1b 1.
